How will the current Kilauea Volcano Activity affect your tour?
The volcanic activity inside the Volcanoes National Park has been paused since Aug 4th. As long as the current condition continues, the park will partially reopen on Sep 22nd. Our Circle Island and Twilight Volcano Tour will visit the park as soon as it opens. For the latest updates on the status of the park, you can visit the National Park Service website,
Twilight Volcano Tour
We have changed the route of this tour due to the recent eruption. We will now travel through South Kona and visit Kona Coffee Farm and Punalu’u Black Sand Beach before visit Volcanoes National Park when it reopens. We will do our best to get you to the closest lava viewing area providing it is safe and legal. The tour concludes with stargazing near Saddle Road.
Grand Circle Island Tour
Due to the recent activity at Kilauea volcano’s Halema’uma’u summit crater and along the east rift zone, the itinerary for our Circle Island Tour is subject to change potentially without notice should a portion of the route be deemed unsafe due to road conditions. Any omitted attractions will be compensated for with the addition of other attractions. We do our best to notify all of our guests in advance of any changes however the unpredictability of our volcanoes may lead to last minute changes for the safety of our guests. In the event that Hawaii Volcanoes National Park reopens, we will be visiting the park instead of the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens. All other attractions on this tour are unaffected.
